Survivor Episode 2: Ogakor Kicks Out Kel
by Barbara Fletcher
The tribe has spoken once again: favoured-to-win Kel Gleason is the first Ogakor member to be voted out of the tribe.
Like Debb, who was voted off in the first Survivor Episode, Kel was one of the few contestants who viewers had pegged
as one of the potential winners.
However when team-mate Jerri gave up on bad-mouthing Keith, she sealed Kel's fate with a few strategically
placed remarks about seeing Kel in the hills chewing
on beef jerky. She even suggested searching his bag for hidden food. But none was found, and when Kel returned,
he gave his word that he was chomping on grass.
Yes, the main items being chewed by the Ogakors during this Survivor Episode were bugs, brains, tripe, and crunchy critters.
And although Kel ate his fair share of outback delicacies for the immunity challenge, all of his team-mates voted
him out of the tribe at Tribal Council -- even Maralyn who promised him that she would be casting her vote
for Jerri.
These Ogakors aren't a very trustworthy bunch so far.
Neither bitterness nor resentment tainted Kel farewell speech. Instead he wished his ex-team members well.
Some East Coast Canadians will be disappointed with the outcome of the second Survivor Episode. Kel spent his high school years
in Fredericton and worked as a production assistant for
CBC Radio before moving to the U.S. and joining
the Army.
He was the closest that Canadians have got to having one of our own on Survivor.
Sigh. How are we going to get that Jerri?
