What's the Scoop on Survivor 3?
by Barbara Fletcher
Of course now that Survivor 2 has passed us by, we are anxious to find out what's in store for Survivor 3.
There were speculations that Survivor 3 was going to take place in Argentina. But during the Survivor 2 Reunion
show, Jeff Probst dispelled the rumour in a short clip presenting Africa as the next destination.
Although the exact location was not confirmed, Probst did mention that despite the harsh conditions of the land,
the Masai tribe have been surviving in this area of the world for a long time.
The Masai are
a famous nomadic warrior tribe living predominately in Kenya but inhabiting both sides of the Kenya-Tanzania
border.
So, will Survivor 3 take place somewhere in the
Masai Mara -- the most spectacular
wildlife reserve in Africa -- or perhaps in one of the many other
Kenyan reserves?
Regardless of the location, the 16 new Survivors will be plunked down into a land home to zebras, African buffalo,
black-backed jackals, baboons,
caracals (lynx),
and Coke's hartebeests.
According to the Survivor application form, filming will take place during seven weeks in
July and August 2001 --
two of the three best months to visit Kenya. Rainy season is just over, and the wildlife is anxious
to tuck into the young pastures.
So, lots of creatures and beautiful landscapes await our next crop of Castaways -- too bad that
we have to wait until the fall to watch it on our TVs.
